Monday Night Prep

This past weekend and Monday, the studio saw a few busy nights of work in preparation for our individual design presentations with the city, this afternoon. Each of us has spent time sketching out several iterations of design concepts, focusing on either the future pavilion’s relationship with the play structure at Steven Washington Park, or it’s relationship to the baseball field. With Professor Pastre’s advice, we were all able to create some very cool pavilion design rough drafts.

Most students chose to create 3D models for their design, using various softwares like Revit, Rhino, and SketchUp. Prints of these models were used on top of the studio light tables to trace over, and create sketch-like pictures for the presentation. Sketch style pictures are preferred at this stage in the design process over realistic renderings because they imply to the audience that the design is still unfinished and could use suggestions and adjustments. The class looks forward to hearing helpful suggestions later today.
