Heading back to the site after Hurricane Ian was a soggy site to see, to say the least. Professor Pastre visited the site on Saturday after the storm passed to discover that while the tarps we set up in preparation held up, however, we did not account for the water that would swell up from the ground. Professor Pastre spent most of Saturday attempting to pump out water from the new swimming pools and let the ground dry some.

Kyle, Johnny, Jerome, and I headed out to site Sunday to help pump out more that might have resurfaced from the ground again. We pumped out the trellis trench while we tied some more rebar and then focused on our larger slab. With the amount of water in the slab we figured we would give the pump a hand and began using buckets and a wheelbarrow to help empty the water from the slab, which was surprisingly very successful. The wet ground has unfortunately pushed back the concrete pour for our slabs and trench, so lets hope for some warm and dry weather in the next week!
While we were at site, Amanda, Jed, and Erin worked on painting some steel. Alex continued with steel work and Hannah readjusted our schedule. Ian was a bit of a setback, but we still have plenty of work to get done!
