Today, our studio crew continued to work on assembling the wall addition at Old Towne Creek. We made sure to split ourselves up by task to ensure the work was done in the most efficient manner possible. We started the day by unloading wood planks from Professor Pastre’s pick-up truck and bringing them into the wood-shop. From there, some of us worked on staining previously cut pieces, while others worked on finishing the large beam which was started over the weekend.
A few weeks ago, I was primarily responsible for creating a material count and cut sheet for the wall assembly portion of the project at Old Towne Creek. Therefore, today I helped begin the assembly of the walls while overseeing the process. We began by cutting many studs for the wall using the chop-saw. Before continuing with the wall, we decided to shift to focusing on the columns. A few of us cut pieces for the columns, preparing them for assembly tomorrow, while others focused on finishing the beam and creating the column-beam joining points. Tomorrow we will likely bring the beam and other assembled parts to the site to begin installation.
