Prepping for Construction

Today we split into two groups. Half of the group stayed back in the shop. This group made solid progress, managing to finish the final truss, cut and prime all the rafters, and sand all the perlins to be ready for staining. Most of the pieces are ready to be brought out to Plymouth park to begin construction.

Myself and a few others went to site to prepare for construction. We used a triangulation technique using site dimensions and measuring tapes to figure out where the columns are to be generally placed. We then hammered down some stakes, which were leveled to equal elevation to create platforms for string to be strung across column points to ensure we mark the column placement at perfect right angles to each other. Following this the concrete foundations were placed at the column points.

On a side note, the park seems to be a very popular spot, frequently busy with families and children. Multiple people have approached us, curious about what we are building at the park.
