ontinues, my group assessed what each of our designs had in common and decided to have another round of individual design this week to incorporate the features from each of our projects that we want to move forward with. Today we came together and worked to create a final scheme that we will continue developing. Our next steps are to make a digital model, drawings, and a physical model before the review next Friday (3/10).
Our design process was focused on bringing qualities from each of our designs into one scheme that we were all happy with.
First we started with our ground plane and the zones we wanted to create with our program and pathways through the site.
Next we focused on the location of program elements such as benches, storage, and garden beds and how that interacted with our paths of circulation.
Following that we looked at the structural system we wanted to create to house our program. We wanted to design a pergola system that would be covered in some areas and be revealed in others.
Finally, we looked at the roof covering and discussed how the roof would slope to drain into the rainwater cistern. As well as how it would cover the program to provide shade and the shadows that it would create over the garden beds.
