Revit Wizardry

We are hard at work taking the Gathering Ground Pavilion from design to construction documents in Revit. Now that we are all on the same model, we can be very exact with material sizes. This gives us the ability to push and pull the design in a way that allows for cost efficiency and the lower material waste. Hamilton, Kaden, and Tyler are currently modeling the deck to determine the best layout for board lengths. This is helping us to avoid decking boards being something like 8′ 1″, because then we would need to buy a 10′ board instead of an 8′ board. These changes in design are minor, but will result in a cost efficient and low waste design. Other parts of the Revit model are underway too. The stands, trellis, and roof are all being modeled at the same time and since we are in the same model, we can be accurate and intentional about the connections between these parts. The goal for the rest of this week is to have the model finished today, and construction drawings done on Friday so that we can send it to the engineer, and move forward with shop drawings, permits, and mockups.
