After a relaxing spring break, we decided it was time for some studio updates.
First, Vivian shared her experience presenting at the board meeting for Conservancy of the Sea Islands last Tuesday. The board unanimously approved both the overall design and the proposed budget, which was exciting news for our team. Though the highlight of her visit was seeing a lawn mowing robot.

Next, we turned our attention to updating the calendar. With the end of the semester approaching, it was important to map out our goals and establish a clear timeline. Moving forward, we’ll be focusing on developing construction documents, shop drawings, and a comprehensive materials list. We also plan to compile all project documentation to date before transitioning into prefabrication. From there, we aim to submit our drawings for permitting over the summer, with the goal of beginning the build in the fall.

We also took some time for a much-needed studio clean-up, clearing space after months of brainstorming and what felt like a sea of trace paper covering every desk. Resetting the space helped us feel more organized and ready for the work ahead.

Today, we’ll be meeting with John Moore, a structural engineer, who will provide insight and feedback on the pavilion’s structural stability. We are preparing plans, sections, and details to present and review with him. His input will give us a strong foundation as we move toward finalizing the design and developing the model in Revit.
