This week I have been wrapping up some initial designs with my nonprofit, Amor Healing Kitchen. Amor recently moved to the old Kaminskys location in West Ashley. Here they have gotten more foot traffic and recognition from the surrounding neighborhoods who are curious about what they do.
At this location, there is a side and back yard, perfect for event space. This is a project I decided to help them on. The design includes garden beds, for teaching opportunities, and seating and stage space. This was critical to finish sooner than later so we could get a material list ready to give to Lowes, in hopes of a donation. This was the first time i have ever asked for donations… so it overall was an interesting experience.
For the West Ashley location, I called prior and the associate on the phone gave me a manager’s name, to who I could give the form, but, when I arrived the person I handed the form to looked at me like I was crazy. Im not sure if it’s because I knew the manager’s name, or if it was the wrong person to give it to. With that awkward encounter, I decided at the James Island location, I would just walk to the back of the store directly to the offices. I talked directly to someone who was able to give the paper to the manager, and he seemed extremely enthusiastic and excited.
While we wait to hear back from Lowes with potential donations, I am working on social media templates, class flyers, weekly menus, and some signage ideas for their new location at Kaminsky’s!
