Gherkin Hard or Hardly Gherkin

This week heads are down as we focus on our Individual design review coming up this Friday. For this review there are three main concept of placements of the pavilion:

1.) A centrally located main pavilion

2.) A main pavilion located on the top corners of the site

3.) Multiple locations of small structures

(Above is the site plan template)

This week I have been creating the base template and base site plan for this review. Each student will have two slides the first one will include the site plan and probably some form of an enlarged plan. As the second will include more detail oriented drawings and precedent studies. Below is the base template I have come up with so far:

I was assigned to design a centrally located pavilion. For my design I have set all the garden beds on the left of the pavilion and the edible forest on the right. With in my garden space I have programed built ins to serve not only the garden but the users of the field and possible customers from Revelry brewing. The design of my pavilion gains inspiration from the mascot of Meeting Street Academy which is an owl. The pavilion is made up of two roof structures that collide together and are suppose to resemble wings.

We look forward to presenting our work to the City this up coming Friday! Stay tuned!
