This weekend was the first of what I expect to be many long ones. We met up at 8 o’clock in the morning to learn how to cut, grind, and weld the metal that we’ll be working with. This is important for things such as the caster system for the desk and bar and the supporting structure of the walls.
Up to this point we have worked primarily in cardboard and wood for our mock-ups and to be able to work in the shop with metal gives us a more realistic representation of what it will look like. It also helps us to decide if we are working in the right direction that yields the best results.
Even though the long weekends are not ideal, they allow us to get in the much needed time to complete this project by the due date. This is a must not only for the semester, but for the clients we work for.
