Today we split the group in half.
Group One : went on site to re-flag the pavilion with our new adjusted orientation and positioning of our structure. From our first try we noticed that our ramp was angling your body towards the tree along the path so we went back on our model and inspected our site plans to re-adjust accordingly. Now framing your body to the path instead of towards the tree. Since we understood how to flag the grounds and arrived on site more prepared with our triangulation plans with more dimensions – we got it done a LOT faster and more efficient.
Group Two: stayed back at the cigar factory and disassembled our mock-up. David said we needed a lot to work on to make sure it is final ready. We tore it apart re-dadoed to fix the gaps between the boards, closed the gaps between the horizontal boards, and made sure the boards have tight connections all the way across. In the wood shop some worked on the mock-up wall while some worked on the trellis details – grinding and cutting the metal to bend – to perfect the process for the final design.
At the end David came back and examined the work and we are doing a new mock-up that will be bigger and help us perfect the process and understand the connection detail to the column. Also we are now mocking up a full trellis detail to also understand how that will be assembled.
