Yesterday, the studio continued working on constructing the table and benches for Stephen Washington Park. We worked in two shifts, one in the morning and then an afternoon shift that quickly became the night shift after some hiccups.
As the afternoon team rolled in, all the pieces were cut and mostly grinded, so a lot of the afternoon consisted of welding, that was until we realized that the member connecting the table legs was welded on 90 degrees in the wrong direction.
Right as we went to put the leg pieces on, we found that we weren’t able to weld them in correctly. As architecture students often have to do, we did some problem solving and found a solution that wouldn’t require completely recutting all of the leg pieces. Still, our mistake added on an extra hour and a half or so.
After we got the table correctly welded together, we had to clean and get the steel ready to be primed tomorrow before it can be painted and brought out to site. Despite the hiccups, we still came out on (table) top!
