With a studio review approaching this Friday afternoon, our studio is hard at work finalizing our group design for the pavilion at Stephen Washington park. Over the weekend, the group found a new precedent which has begun to drive our design moving forward. The MPavillion 2018 project by Estudio Carme Pinos in Melbourne, Australia uses folded planes to create a structure that incorporates origami shapes and techniques. As a group, we’ve been interested in kite-like structures and creating a design that uses a similar language as the precedent by making folds. By studying this precedent, we’ve been able to make iterations on roof planes, structure, site plans, and seating within our own design. As we prepare for the review on Friday, we’ll begin to refine our design and move into creating our final deliverables.
