Site Visit!

We’ve officially started transporting materials to our site! With both beams cut, assembled, stained, and finished, it took the whole studio to get them loaded onto the truck and hauled them out for placement. Over the past few weeks, we’ve gained valuable experience in the shop, and now we’re ready to dive into the next phase—assembly on-site!

With the beams and purlins completed, we’ve shifted our focus to the columns. Most of the cutting was completed yesterday, but now comes the next step—sanding, staining, and finalizing them for transport. By the end of this week, we’ll be ready to bring them to the site and begin constructing the donor wall!

Outside of the studio, I finally took my first walk across the Ravenel Bridge at sunset. It was an incredible experience to see the structure up close and take in the views. After the walk, I grabbed takeout from Mama Kim’s on King Street and spent the evening relaxing at home. Now that I’ve fully settled into Charleston, I’m excited for the warmer weather and looking forward to more walking trips and exploring the city!
