It’s the Final Countdown

It’s the final countdown for solo and small group design ideas before we all work together to develop one singular form. Following debate on whether the pavilion should take on a linear form, or follow an “L-shape,” the crew split into two groups to explore each idea. The group interested in a rectangular shape ended up dividing themselves up into tasks. Some people worked on shape, others floor plans, etc.. The L-shaped group split up into smaller groups and each did whatever they were interested in presenting.

In the following images, you can see each groups idea, beginning with our massive inspiration board. Roof shape has been a large portion of what all of us have been exploring, as well as trying to strike a balance between functionality and visual appeal. Overlapping roofs, gabled roofs, and roofs with portions missing to allow for light penetration can all be seen below. Tomorrow, as a group, we will decide on a final concept and stick with one idea to create a final design.
