On Tuesday this week, my “Inevitable Inundation” classmates and I celebrated Halloween by “trick or treating” for mitigation techniques on historic homes located around the lower end of the Charleston Peninsula. It was very nice to have the opportunity to get out and about and have a break from the normal routine. In addition it was very interesting to see what we have been discussing recently, in reality. Below are some pictures I took during our tour.
On Wednesday during our studio time, I worked with a crew that assisted with constructing the mockups for various connections on the Singleton Pavilion. I also helped out with marking and drilling bolt holes on the 6×6 columns. I have very much enjoyed working in the shop these past two semesters and have been trying to put off the thought of my time in the community build program coming to an end.
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend an OAC meeting on a job site for a project that my firm has been working on since before I began working there last January. It was very informative for understanding the architects role in a large scale design build project. In addition, I enjoyed listening to the construction team and getting to experience their regimented and efficient style of running a meeting. Sadly, I had to leave for class before they did the site walk so I do not have any cool pictures to share this time. The class I needed to leave for was Intro to Craft. The students are all hard at work preparing designs for our final project. More on that next time!
Next Monday we will all be taking a trip down to Savannah for the day. I am very excited for another opportunity to get out and about and hope to do some field sketching while there.
Thanks for reading 😀

Nice work, Kevin!
