ArdMORE ForeverMORE

This week we wrap up our spring cleaning work before jumping head first into our project at Singleton Park next week – or do we? With the Ardmore planters still on hold for materials, it is safe to say that we will be seeing a little bit more of Ardmore in the near future. As materials become available, we will work simultaneously on Singleton while focusing on the assembly and installation of the planters.

Fortunately, even though we are on hold for materials to come in, the planter design for the pavilion is complete, as are most of the rough plans for the adjacent installation of a bridge, built by Dan Harding and the CR+DC. Yet to be determined is the exact means (including date and manpower) and cost of transportation for the existing bridge, which is back at Lee Hall in Clemson, to Charleston. This bridge will be an integral addition to the Ardmore project and the community it serves.

We may be waiting on several of our items for Ardmore, but that has not equated to a lack of work! With the PLI Committee visiting in less than two weeks, the whole A+CB team is preparing the CDC.C for their arrival. All fifteen of us are broken up into groups working on name tags, informational boards, and you guessed it, more (spring) cleaning.

Arguably the most design-intensive portion has been the name tags. With the importance of the Community Build program here at our center, we wanted the PLI members to have something tangible to take with them after their visit. Thus, the puzzle piece name tags were born. These name tags will be symbolic of our presence here in Charleston and its connection back to Clemson.

With the remainder of our outstanding work for both spring cleaning and PLI preparation, the message of the week has certainly been that spring cleaning is never really over.
