Wednesday we met with the structural engineer John, to look over some of our details and model that we created. We went over some details about roof, railing, beams, and truss.
Some adjustments John recommended was that the beams need to 2×10 and not 2×8 and possible have two of them instead of one. Another thing we are deciding on still is how will the roofing work as well as the support systems for it. As a class we are going back and working out slight adjustments for the design and structures.
After our meeting with John, we watched a documentary on an air b&b that was constructed out of bamboo. It was interesting to see the way they manipulated the material to make it look like it was bending . One thing I took away from it was that nature and a structure should not be separated and should be able to coexist without boundaries. The class then divided up the work to show for Fridays class, which is our last class before spring break.
