Today we had our Community 1:1 book discussion at Kudu Cafe downtown. We talked about the last chapters of Raising the Bar and Let My People Go Surfing. A lot of the conversation ended up being about values, culture, and lifestyle, and what we would want if we ever started our own company or became entrepreneurs one day.
It also made us think about how we look at architecture firms. What are certain architects or firms known for? What makes us want to work somewhere specific? It’s not just about a firm picking us, it’s also about us deciding if a firm feels like the right fit. Do their values align with ours? How can we figure out what a firm is really like during an interview? Asking the right questions can say a lot about the culture.
After that we talked about where everyone is at with their studio projects to make sure we are still on track for next Wednesday’s presentation. Our group has a base map (thanks to Hamilton) now where we can start testing roof iterations to scale. Hopefully we’ll land on a decision by the start of class tomorrow so Hamilton can get some sleep XD.
