What a special day it is today! 35 years of the Clemson Architecture Center in Charleston and many more to come! Today will be a busy day as the design center has invited past alumni to come and celebrate. Special thanks to everyone who makes the CAC.C thrive!
As far as the build goes.. we’re still on hold to break ground on site until we receive some approvals but that isn’t stopping us from working on the pavilion. Formwork was completed earlier this week and now we are prepping the beams for the small and big pavilion. The beams alone are over 2,000lbs worth of material so its important that we measure twice, cut once.
Today, we broke up into groups with half of us continuing shop drawings upstairs while the other half of the studio went down to the shop. Down in the shop we continued to organize and have things in a designated area to work more efficiently. After doing this, we further broke up into two groups with one group prepping and cutting down the beams, while the others were creating a jig system for the placements of holes we have to make to put our bolts in to have this pavilion stand up. We managed to complete one set of beams (8 total) that are 16′ 1 1/2″ long.
