Back to Work!

After some much needed R&R, the students reassembled today upon returning from Spring Break. We picked up right where we left off and began to make new progress in our assigned teams.

One group is currently focusing on operable features of the pavilion, another is focused on landscaping, another on layout of programming, and finally my group- looking at the roof and structural system. A few students also began composing the flyers which will advertise the community engagement event next Wednesday at Singleton Park.

Below are some of the quick sketches that took place during my team’s initial charette where we collaborated to develop the roof design. Additionally we are working to ensure that our ideas are also working in cohesion with designs that the other groups develop as well.

Over break I have been working on producing the shop drawings and cut-lists for my project for the Community 1:1 class. I am working with the non-profit Katie’s Krops to design and build a “Butterfly House” that will serve as an outdoor, screened-in enclosure. It will provide a safe environment for Monarch Butterflies to live and thrive. Below are just a few of the drawings I have been working on.
