RAFTERS ON DECK

Today, we worked on putting together our rafters. This required us to arrange all the pieces in a neat and orderly fashion so the process would go by smoothly. We had to take into account the placement of the head of the bolt, which we chose to face inside the pavilion as the nuts and washers were on the outside.

In addition, to putting together the rafters we started drilling holes for our columns to go into the ground. This required us to run string lines and mark out the locations of the holes. We use a normal concrete drill at first to then realize we needed a heavier duty one to get through the rebar.

Finally, we painted the first coat of black paint on our metal beam connections. This was not an easy task as the steel beam connections are both 30ft long and required alot of bodies to move and paint to apply.
