Home Stretch at Plymouth Park

As we transition into finals week, our studio is getting so close to finishing our pavilion at Plymouth Park. The cedar shake arrived on Thursday, so we began roofing on Friday in class. The crew went out to site both Saturday and Sunday, pushing on this final leg to finishing out the build. While some were out on site, others including myself, were back in studio working on our documentation. I was reminded of some of our key drivers to this project: orientation to maximize views of the water and the playground, integration with the beautiful nature and trees, all while creating a modern and fun design.

This semester was faced paced, but each day our team improved communication and fulfilled our commitment to seeing this project through. The cedar shake has been part of our design concept from the start, so adding this final layer to the structure is the icing on top we have been waiting for. After the shake is all installed, we have to add caps to protect the top edges of the roof, then we have to finish our documentation. I cannot wait to finish this project out and celebrate with the group at our review and end of the semester celebration on Thursday!
