Yay, Silt Fence!!!

A few of us went out to the site yesterday to put up the silt fence. We had five rolls to get up and we finished it up in a few hours!

Some things we learned along the way:

  1. Make sure you pull the trencher in the right direction so the dirt ends up on the correct side of where the fence will go….
  2. Be careful not to break the stakes when you’re putting them in the ground!
  3. There are a lot of bugs in that dirt.
  4. There are also a lot of ant hills on site!!
  5. Bring lawn chairs, water, and a cooler to the site for breaks!

The guys took turns pulling the trencher and putting the stakes into the ground while Caroline and I tucked the fabric down and shoveled the dirt (which had a lot of bugs btw) back into the trenches. We noticed the tops of the fences were sagging, so we used zip ties to make it look prettier 🙂

Before zip ties…

After zip ties!!!
