This week has been a lot of firsts for the students of the A-cB class. On Tuesday, half of the class went to site to put up the silt fence around our project site. The other half of us, including myself, participated in a metal shop training day. I, myself, have worked with metal a significant amount in the past from when I was undergoing my undergraduate degree at Indiana University. Nonetheless, it was a great refresher for remembering how to safely and successfully operate metal and metalworking tools.

On another note, I had another first this week which was with my mentorship going to Seabrook Island. I went with my boss out to Seabrook to meet a husband and wife who are clients of his out on their property where their home is currently being framed. When we were there the construction crew was working on laying the CMU foundation for their house. I enjoyed seeing this in action because it made me think about how we are going to be doing this exact thing very soon in the coming weeks when we lay the structural CMU for the fireplace in our pavilion.
