Where Books Meet Blueprint Ambitions!

In our Community 1:1 class, a significant portion is dedicated to a book club experience. Over the semester, we’ll delve into three compelling reads: “The Speed of Trust,” “Out of Architecture,” and “Raising the Bar or Let My People Go Surfing.” Every Thursday, we gather for an engaging hour and a half, unraveling the pages of our chosen books and intertwining their insights with our daily lives. What makes this book club even more exciting is the variety of locations we choose for our discussions – ranging from cozy coffee shops to vibrant breweries and even laid-back BBQ restaurants.

In our latest rendezvous at Edmund’s Oast, a brewery situated on Bay St., the discussion revolved around the narratives of “Raising the Bar” and “Let My People Go Surfing.” As we delved into the books, something caught our attention – the open-air pavilion where we gathered under was extremely similar to the architectural concept that  we’re envisioning for our upcoming Design Build studio project. The intricate timber-frame structure not only added character to the brewery space but also sparked a wave of inspiration among us. It’s moments like these that fuel our enthusiasm as we eagerly anticipate diving into our own project.
