Gearing Up For Groundbreaking

After our success with the bridge at the Ardmore site, our entire crew can now fully focus on preparing the final drawings to get started with construction on the Singleton Pavilion. At the beginning of studio we met to run through all of the tasks that needed completing before we break ground on site next week. We split up into 4 groups to focus on 4 tasks:  Rain Garden, Roof, Formwork, and Small Pavilion.

The rain garden group began research on the final landscaping and paths that make up the rain garden and also investigate cistern prices to calculate into our project costs.

Meanwhile, the roof group focused on final touch ups to the roof structures and pricing out the cost of the total materials.

The formwork group is focusing on two tasks, one being the formwork needed to pour the foundation, and the two unique concrete piers, and the second involves producing shop drawings for the built in benches and cabinets for the pavilion.

The small pavilion group focused exclusively on the smaller pavilion, it’s shop drawings and pricing.

For the most part studio was a busy day behind our computers, but it’s an exciting feeling knowing we’re almost a week away from breaking ground at Singleton Park to build our design. If we want things to go smoothly throughout construction, this week is integral for us to get everything prepared now so we won’t have to worry later. It’ll be a busy week but it’ll all be worth it when we finally get started on site.
