On Monday, the studio went down to the shop to practice what they learned the day before. When down there they divided into groups to be more efficient. One group would practice welding, and the other would continue working on shop drawings and material count.
The welding group grabbed all their safety equipment, and got their area set up to practice welding, cutting, and grinding. It took sometime getting set up as people wanted to make sure they were doing things properly. Since there was only one welding machine they took turns, one person would weld while some others would grind. When the welding process would start, the person would yell out that they were about to start so the others would be aware. When welding you are not supposed to stare at the light, unless you have self dimming visors on. The process was scary to some at first, but once they got the hang of it they began to enjoy it.
While this was happening in one room of the shop, the other half began to finish up some very important drawing and calculations. In this group people began to do shop drawings and material count for a mock up that they would soon build in later days. They also continued to work on the overall material count, so we could began to order materials for the project. Since there were a few changes that were made to the trellis, corrections also had to be made to the trellis shop drawings.
