We began yesterday with a brief studio wide check-in so that we could all share our ideas and see the direction that each team has decided to head in. With only a week left before our first design review presentation at Edith L. Frierson Elementary, we want to make sure that there are a variety of unique proposals for the staff at Frierson to comment on. As well as provide feedback on elements that they would want to see carried over into the next phase of design.
After identifying areas of focus for each team to pursue, we split back up into small groups and began brainstorming ways to push our designs further. After reconvening with my group, we found ourselves feeling stuck with how to merge all our ideas into one concept. To our surprise, one of our group members pulled out a 3D pen from her bag. Within 5 minutes she had “sketched” out a site model that we could then begin moving around and placing program elements.
With our program and building orientation now finalized, we then started “sketching” out structural elements that would become the focus of our design as our group moves into our next stage of development on Wednesday.
