After a long week of planning, designing, diagrams, and presentations, I took Sunday afternoon off and visited Patriots Point. This might sound selfish or even a little lazy but all I was doing was trying to get a clear head for the next phase of this semester long project.
I have to start off by saying if you have not visited Patriots Point and been on the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier, then you are missing out. If you even have the slightest interest in history, museums, restorations or anything to do with the military, then you will find it very interesting. I spent two and a half hours on the ship and could have stayed longer. Its just unreal how the crew on those ships live for months on end, I couldnt believe it. There were old airplanes on board, helicopters, fighter jets and even pieces from an apollo mission. It was like walking through a museum, they have hundreds of artifacts, even from japanese planes that attacked the ship. Along side the ship there was also a sub that you could go on, and if you think the ship is cramped then the sub will be like living in a closet, a hot, loud closet. It was all just so fascinating and historical, I might spend another day off over there so I can see the rest. Untill then, its back to work!
