In Introduction to Craft with Matt Corbitt, students presented their initial concepts for the Block Party design.. In late October, students will have designed and fabricated a element to enhance engagement for the party with Metanoia, a local non-profit organization. Ideas such as sculptures, benches, tables, and games have been pitched by students to further develop. The only constraints given to students are the construction material and the implementation of a local craft of choice.
In class Thursday, 4 teams presented their initial ideas. Tables or benches constructed similarly to the old craft of barrel making, as well as light/shadow play of rope knotting were presented and discussed. These designs will be further iterated over the next week prior to creation of shop drawings and fabrication.
