Today was an eventful day for myself and all of my classmates at the CAC.C. In Community 1:1, we all conducted research on the 10 provided Non-Profit organizations. Based on our research, we decided which organization we fit with the best to work with throughout the semester. David Pastre brought us all together to go over each of the organizations and, to his best ability, described how we can help them.
We were then asked to rank our top 3 organizations and a list of reasons why. Since some of the organizations may be more popular than others, the ranking system allows for David to place everyone in one of their top 3 choices. Making this decision was not easy, as I strongly believe in each of the organization’s missions. After some research and decision making, I whittled my options down to three.
My number one choice of Non-Profit to work with is the Green Heart Project. Their mission is to “build garden-based experiential learning projects and school garden programs to educate students connect people and cultivate community through growing, eating, and celebrating food.”

My number two choice of Non-Profit is the M.A.R.S.H. Project. The acronym stands for the Marsh Appreciation and Restoration Society for Happiness Project, and their mission is “a grassroots and community-based program working to revitalize and advocate for the unique marshland ecosystems in Charleston, South Carolina.”
My third choice of Non-Profit is the REDUX Contemporary Art Center. They are a “nonprofit organization committed to fostering creativity and the cultivation of contemporary art through diverse exhibitions, affordable studio space for visual artists, meaningful education and outreach programs, and a multidisciplinary approach to the dialogue between artists and their audiences.”
