It works!

Erica, Raechel, and I have been working hard the past few weeks to get our Intro to Craft Project to actually work. After many, MANY, failed attempts we finally have a working project just in time for mid review!!

Our first two forms, which were 3d printed, ended up snapping in the extruder from the pressure of the clay. We tried strengthening the 3d print the second time but it still was not strong enough. We debated whether we needed a softer clay or to try a whole new form.

We decided to go with a new, stronger form. This is the first one to actually hold up in the extruder! We laser cut and glued 2 pieces of acrylic together and welded screws to hold the interior acrylic pieces in place (with help from Matt!)

Steps:

Placing the form into the extruder…

Inserting the clay…

Pumping the arm… (ft. Erica’s muscles💪🏻)

Clay moves through the form…

The final form! It works!!
