This past week the studio was hard at work adhering to our schedule. We are a few days behind our original date of having construction documents finalized for the pavilion, but we have defined a set of drawings that will precede the more detailed shop drawings this coming week. On top of this, a select few of us having been hard at work contacting companies about materials we are anticipating using and how much it will account for our budget. We are a little over our estimations right now for most materials including the green roof estimation, but I do see us recalculating some areas, like that of the rebar grid system, to make costs more efficient. It’s definitely been a process of refinement this semester. Learning how to chisel away the design early on in the semester, and now about how to cut down on unnecessary and wasteful parts of the budget as it pertains to materials will be the defining factors moving forward.
