Its been a long time coming but we can now finally share with everyone what we have been doing the past few weeks with the Solar D cabinetry. The main Idea for the Solar D interior is that there are no walls, rooms are separated by cabinetry. This means that within this cabinetry we have to run chases for all the electrical and plumbing making for quite a unique design. We also wanted our cabinetry to use the same ideas behind the Houses construction meaning that it will be all CNC cut and fit together like puzzle peaces in hopes that anyone with no prior experience could put them together, like IKEA furniture. We designed this mockup in order to test as many conditions we might have in the house as possible. We had a local CNC shop cut out all of our parts, picked them up and started building. It took us about 2 days to get everything built, wired up, and plumbing installed. We learning a lot of valuable lessons on how we can make this process much better which we will pass on to the next group that takes over this project. We then took apart main massing sections loaded it up and took it up to Clemson for the review. It took us less than 2 hours to get it all back together and ready for the review. Now here are some photos from start to finish, hope you enjoy.
