10 Days Until Block Party with Metanoia!

In field studies today, the class had an impromptu meet-up at the International African American Museum. This structure is one of the newer pieces of contemporary architecture in Charleston, opening in the summer of 2023. The design is incredibly thought-out and is great example of designing in section. About half of the class ran into each other today. We all said hey, then meandered through the property to find our location to sketch different aspects of the structure. While we all focused on the exterior, hopefully we will have the opportunity to return to the site with tickets to experience the displays on the inside!

In ITC this afternoon, we were introduced to the 2nd phase of the project for Metanoia. Last week, the organization gave a presentation on guidelines they would like for us to follow with our installations happening next Saturday, 10/25. Tasks were divided, and the production process proceeded. As for my group, Lad, Liam, Luis, and Sarah, we continued the process of creating our modular pieces while developing concepts for a voting system. This system will allow for locals of the area to have an input on what establishments they would like to see in the community. Examples of this could development pertaining to retail, multi-family residential, single-family residential, or even further development of the pedestrian infrastructure. We are all getting very excited for the block party!
