Stephen Washington Park

During this semester, the Clemson Community Build Team Partnered with the Charleston City Parks Department to create a space in Plymouth Park that represents a collective investment of design, purpose, and long-term commitment. Positioned between the baseball field and a proposed playground, the pavilion is meant to be highly visible and widely usable. Its angular, modern form offers a distinctive and permanent presence in the park. Historically, the park’s strength has come from the community, and the pavilion honors that resourcefulness by providing multipurpose space with integrated seating and surfaces adaptable to many uses. As an early phase of a larger redevelopment effort, the project also establishes a strategic framework for future site improvements.
