Pencils down! Times up…

As we are a day away from our individual design presentation, everyone is knee-deep in pulling together their final iterations of this process. The trace paper is down and everyone is compiling their sketches and drawings together into a cohesive whole. As we fine tune our details, we are preparing our narratives and reasons behind our design decisions. Each of us have different reasons behind our designs and we are all perfecting our pitch.

While it was great for each person to individually design their take on how the gardens should look, I thoroughly enjoyed working along side my classmates and bouncing ideas off one another. Moving forward into small group designs will be an exciting time.

I was assigned to the group with developing multiple structures across our site. My goal is finding a way to intertwine each structure together across the site. I situated the main pavilion to the Northwest corner of the site, as the large social gathering space. In the middle of the site is where I situated the water collection and washing station. Towards the bike back rack is the pavilion which houses all the storage for the gardening tools. In between the end structures are the 3′ x 8′ garden beds. Overhanging the beds are beams which mimic the translation of the pergola system throughout the site.
