Birds of Prey

This past weekend I went and visited the Birds of Prey Center. This was the building I picked for history & theory to do a video assignment on. The center is very cool for nature lovers or anyone who enjoys birds. They had two main sections - one for birds of prey and one for [...]

Dream Teams!

Happy Friday! Everyone's favorite day of the week (mine at least)! This week we finally have teamed up for our group designs of Old Towne Creek. Before Spring Break, we had an individual design review with Matt, one of the planners for Charleston County Parks. When we came back this week, Matt had shared some [...]

Reel Respect: Catch and Release Fishing

This semester I have been paired with the non-profit Release Over 20" which is an advocate for sustainable catch and release fishing, especially fish that are over 20". Most creek and river fish over 20" are females capable of reproducing at extreme numbers. For example, a 20" trout releases approximately 20 million eggs a spawning [...]

Teeing Off My Golf Career

Welcome back to the blog after spring break! Today is our first day back in studio after the break and I am excited to hear about what my classmates did! We have been working really hard this semester and for me personally it was really nice to have a little break. Today our group design [...]

Unveiling Our Vision

As we gear up for the exciting phase of our Old Towne Creek Park Community Build initiative, we're putting the finishing touches on our unique designs, set to be presented to a select group from the Charleston County Park Department later today. Over the past week and a half, we've delved deep into researching the [...]

Singleton Progress

During Friday’s studio, our construction began on the Singleton A+cB project. The ten A+cB students this semester met on site and began digging the foundation for the pavilion and laid the formwork for the concrete slab. We had a lot of fun, and got some great practice for our project we will build next fall!

Construction Fun Friday!

Last Friday morning we went for a field studies walking tour with Professor Michael Maher for our History & Theory III class through the Mazyck Wraggborough neighborhood and other parts of downtown Charleston. The tour started out front at the Charleston Gaillard Center and then we headed down Queen street and onwards. A little while [...]

History & Theory Walk

We met at The Gaillard Building last Friday morning for our second field studies walk for our History & Theory class! Seeing the city after all the readings and movies from class was eye opening for sure! Maher showed us around the area and spoke to us about the importance of "place."       [...]

Guess what I saw!

Last Friday we got to work digging holes! The city disassembled the small pavilion at singleton for us and even got the old concrete broken up and out of the way. We worked all afternoon getting the formwork set up for the new slab. David left us to fend for ourselves for most of the [...]

Monday’s Meetings to Friday’s Formwork

Happy Friday! Oh what a week it's been. Let's recap... Monday started strong with some non-profit partnership work. I met with Rebekah over at Ripple, conveniently located on the ground floor of the Cigar Factory. The Ripple Fund is an awesome non-profit that provides a workspace used as an 'incubator space' for non-profit leaders in [...]
